Spent the night in my office waiting for the laptop-stealers... maybe they'll show up tonight.
For all those wondering there is a person named Harry Palm and his son (also Jeff) works for Home Depot. Apparently Harry goes by Wendell. Hey Wendell. What's shaking Wendell. Supposedly today is called Black Friday for PhD students because they review us and decide just how much we suck. Hopefully I fall low on the suck scale. [minus] rocks... can't wait to see them in Machester next month -- they fall pretty high on the whattolistentowhileriding scale -- not as high as sage francis -- maybe it'll stop raining so I can go boarding this weekend.
New Canada's planning an attack on neighboring territories... let by their fearless leader ____________ (I don't know the bird's name from Cocoa Puffs). Searching for this picture I ran across this book... doesn't really sound that interesting, but it has an intersting title -- Sex, Drugs, and Cocoa Puffs : A Low Culture Manifesto. Whatever. I though Living Colour was coming to Boston -- oh well, maybe not -- they were cool at Tulane... they came a chilled after the show. They've got to be -- whoops phone... that was for my officemate, he has never been here to receive a call... anyways... 80 now, s', they're old, but still probably rock. Nothing much more substantial to write (drivel) about -- second place in trivia night -- oh well, we cheated anyway. I guess cheating doesn't pay -- this time -- it will next time. No more mp3.com soon -- Doses in Modertation on now from 7th Standard, a cool band from Sac, CA.. saw them once, some guy busted out a window in my friend's car... then some guy at the gas station wanted to go find them -- yeah, no, a broken window is one thing, 17 years in prison is another... I think we also drove the wrong way on the Bay Bridge... gotta go.
trivia night must go down tonight... I have my laptop, if you read this and are around from about 9pm- tonight, keep by your phone for a call
we started a new country today -- it's called new canada... others are in it for political reasons, me? the shananagins... I hoping to be president, though I'd settle for any position in the maple leaf prime... I need to stop coming in when there's not really work to do -- consolidation. Maybe I can work from Vermont so I can ride in the morning and work later on.. my buddy put up his site today.. check it out.
Fun times at Mount Washington... nice weather... it gets dark here sooooooooooo early now, that 4pm rolls around and you already feel left behind on happy hour, then by the time it's 7pm it feels like 10pm...hmmmmmmmmmm need a solution to this.
ok, back to Dispatch. So, they're playing one final show next summer -- gonna have to see that. I've only seen them once, with a guy Phil from Colorado -- well he's from Indiana, but lives in CO now. He had his car towed for parking in a Blockbuster parking lot... luckily, tons of the people were there came from Bouler, and we ended up riding back with three people... two of whom worked for Warren Miller, they gave us DVDs and lift tickets and other gifts, they were cool... So the next time I was at the Filmore (that's where the Dispatch show was) we saw the Ataris -- a good show, too -- but I asked if I could have one of the signs inside that said your car would get towed if you park at Blockbuster. I found the irony in this situation -- do you -- there's no re-entry, yet they have a sign saying (essentiall) move your car... a more appropriate sign would simply inform you that your car will be towed and there's nothing you can do about it... anyway, back to work.
A productive start to office hours, I see... I have never had a student come by during these hours... hmmmm. Good news, though, Dispatch is playing one final show next summer.... ooo I have someone.... it's Dimitri.
Have I been living in a shoebox... who the f' is Jessia Lynch?
There's nothing like stepping through a dfa generated in two languages... good stuff. Alkaline Trio would have been great had we gotten to the right train station... oh well, I'll catch them again. I guess winter is coming here, it's getting chillier everyday... though Jose mixed in coffee can help keep warm -- it basically tastes like poo, so that's off my list of drinks. Had to try it, though. I need a hat. Someone promised me one, though I also promised to send my head size, so I supupose I'm holdind up the process. I'd say it is less than the size of a regular pumpkin, unless this pumpkin is one of those freaky steroid-induced fruits (vegetables?). Definitely larger than the normal cantaloupe -- and I can say with confidence I've never seen a cantaloupe larger than my head. I have seen an apple larger than a softball, though. Not bigger than my head, but that's an apple. Come one.
Judges Casey and Hamilton rule, because everyone should overrule our high and mighty's new law on late-term abortions -- not because I'm for killing kids, but because it's arbitrary. There's no law against drinking or smoking or snorting blow when a woman's pregnant. And then what about skate boarding or sky diving or doing taebow -- they can all hurt a kid. W is an idiot, maybe he could stop passing stupid laws and sending billions of dollars of our money to prolong a war... we have big bombs and big planes and pilots with big egos that would love to end the war right now -- I say lets do that.
a nice and quiet day today in the lab, I think a bunch of the schemers will be gone tomorrow -- I like having them around, but quiet can be good.... so I managed a flight to see Jason... ahhhhhh, but tomorrow an evening with with Mr. Miller -- than following that an evening with Mr.s Skiba, Andriano, and the other guy, don't know his name. and for the record I *love* Canadians -- two of my good friends from last/last summer in Boston were from moose-f'ing country, and they're great... one's still there, the other's in Washington -- practically Canada -- it's to Canada as LA or San Diego is to Mexico. I think I've had my fill of C# for the day, a 'fun' language, maybe, who knows. ooooo I can play at Cafe Passim next week, no class. Good times.
Q: How many PhDs and PhD students does it take to fix a printer?
A: Don't know.
Q: How many does it take to bicker about one?
A: Apparently 9.
Another overly-productive day. . . though I was asked at least a dozen times if I were cold in shorts -- the answer was no every time. Maybe a thesis idea will fall out of the sky? Almost time to strap on a head lamp and get on my bike... see what Boston drivers have to offer. Maybe I'll bring my thesis to the Alkaline Trio show -- Matt Skiba is mentioned in it -- same goes for Jonah Matranga. I did run into Jonah in a bathroom at a youth center in California before one of his shows, that was better than the fat guy from N'Sync (or back street boys) in NY, for sure. I was peeing, he was talking to his girlfriend on the phone. It would have been an OK time to talk while we were both at the trough, but as soon as he backed away and I was still here I lost the moment. Learned that from Howard Stearn -- the only lesson I claim to have learned from him. Then, he moved for the paper towels, I moved for the sink to wash my hands -- then conversation ensued. Then I told my friend Dan, he wasn't impressed, though he hadn't seen the show. Had he seen Jonah's show before telling him, I'm sure he would've been floored. Oooooh, a lesson to add to the other day's. Never go to Salem for Halloween -- quite the same reason you would avoid the shopping center on Christmas Eve -- despite it being a shitty place for halloween I had a good time. Had a great conversation with a nomad waiting for the bathroom; by that time I was working my way to the bottom of the second (ok, third) jug of Jose and I'm pretty sure we were on about the same mental plane by then. My parents just came on line... I need to ask then something...
Yuh... so Florida finally won a game -- this time an impressive one, and who was the saviour? Who else but the kicker! Ah, he's a badass, though, making tackles on kick offs, etc... Why are flights so f'ing expensive? I'm beginning to treat my mp3.com singles as granola bars -- that is, Nature Value has the individual packs that contain flavor. But they also have the mixture -- p-nut butter, green, and blue -- anyway, peanut butter is by far the best, but I'd still get the mixture -- like I'm playing a mix now, but I'd always cheat and grab the peanut butter's first -- see the connection.
